About the Speaker – Dan Oblinger
Dan Oblinger is a veteran hostage negotiation commander turned best-selling author, international keynote speaker, and the leading consultant to the construction industry on active listening, emotional communications, and negotiation. With two decades in law enforcement, including serving as a hostage negotiations commander for a major metropolitan police agency, Dan knows how high-stakes conversations shape outcomes.
Since 2008, he’s brought the principles of leadership, active listening, and negotiation into boardrooms, job sites, and safety meetings—helping leaders build trust, drive compliance, and foster authentic connections. As President of Oblinger & Tsang, he designs internal negotiation programs for consulting engineering firms, coaches executives, and leads the Negotiation Tribe, an online community for negotiation practitioners.
Dan has authored three books, contributed to numerous trade publications, and is a frequent podcast guest worldwide. His mission: to equip leaders to listen with intention, communicate with empathy, and forge agreements that strengthen teams and cultures.
